HANGING BASKETS
Our hanging basket crop is grown quite late by commercial standards as we believe in fuel conservation to lessen the CO2 footprint for the environment.
The disproportionate amount of extra fuel required for an earlier crop is no longer justifiable environmentally and with a later crop there is less risk of frost damage and subsequent failure.
Initially our plants are heated using log burning boilers in an attempt to utilize carbon fixed from the atmosphere via photosynthesis.
There is also a preference for wicker baskets instead of plastic as again these lessen the carbon footprint on the whole production process.
Planters and plants are sold from the end of May and even then advice is given regarding weather interactions.
Baskets and planters can also be recycled via our EXPRESS REFILL service.
(Plants grown in a coir fibre liner are simply fitted into an empty hanging basket of similar dimension.)
